Hypnotize Art

Love this surreal short animation by Caleb Wood. Some of the sound here oddly sorta reminds me of Yojimbo (one of my favourite film scores).  Watch below.   Goodbye Rabbit, Hop Hop from caleb wood on Vimeo.

The Simpsons recently tapped Oscar-nominated animator Don Hertzfeldt to animate the opening title couch gag and, well, it’s as weird as you’d expect it to be if you’re familiar with his work. To be honest, it’s not really my thing, but I like how left field it is. The show has been unfunny for so long, can anything save it? I’ve said it before, I think it would be cool if they allowed different artists to do entire episodes. Like the episode w...

, an animation by Matthew DiVito, with music by composer Aldo Archar. Watch below!

is a monthly animation challenge that has really grown into something cool. Each month there’s a new theme and animators from around the world submit their work. All of the animations are screened at a venue in Melbourne, and one winner is chosen! One of my favourite studios, recently compiled the best of their submissions from the last couple years. They’re fantastic, watch below!

Music video for track by Karol Stolarek is a monochromatic motion design project by student Jakub Romanowicz employing 3D graphics.

Katarzyna Kijek and Przemysław Adamski have created yet another fantastic music video! This time we have a stop-motion for Shugo Tokumaru’s song, . I’ve seen several videos utilize a similar special effect ( but I like what they achieved here by actually cutting each frame out of foam core and photographing them. Watch the animation below!

You probably saw take on Baauer’s “Harlem Shake” but this one is way better! Watch below!

Beautiful animation piece by Saki Iyori. Watch below!

Dear Comedy Network, please give my friends Bart and Chris their own show. This new episode of should be all the evidence you need! Watch below!

I don’t really know what I’m looking at here, but it’s awesome. Animation by BRDG Tokyo. Watch “Lilium” below.

“LSD ABC” is the project by Laura Sicouri & Kadavre Exquis. Watch the film below!

Oh my lord, this looks fantastic. Mikey Please’s last stop-motion animation shattered my brain (see post ) and this looks even more incredible if that’s even possible. Watch the trailer and a time-laspe below! Excuse me while I watch them both again, too!

This animation by Renata Gąsiorowska is pure bliss. From what I understand she’s only halfway through art school so what you’re seeing here is only the beginning. I wouldn’t say it’s one of my favourite animations of the year, I’d say it’s one of my favourite anythings from anytime, ever. Watch below! animation: music:

Another flawless animation by London-based 2d and 3d animator Simon Landrein. This one for Silkie’s “Love Affair”. His style is so recognizable now, and he just knows how to pare down everything to just what’s necessary to tell a story. Fantastic work. Watch the animation below.

A mesmerizing little animation loop by the talented Eran Hill (the music too). Watch “hiding but not really” below. Beautiful work.

NYC through a Holga.
New York / January 16, 2017

I was wandering around Flickr recently and ended up spending a lot of time clicking through some great little photographs by Paris-based graphic designer, Stephanie *. If you’ve ever used a Holga to shoot anything you know it’s somewhat of a crapshoot until you’ve shot rolls and rolls and you have a good feel for the focus. I took a Holga with me to Sri Lanka and I never really got a good feel for it, so 90% of my shots were horrible...

Best of Kickstarter and Video of the Day: The Cinder Cone
Designer / December 28, 2016

Around this time last year Foster Huntington decided to build the ultimate tree house and skate bowl. With the help of his friends (some professional carpenters/some not), Huntington was able to make his dream a reality. Having documented the project from start to finish, Huntington is now starting a Kickstarter campaign in the hopes of publishing a book that will inspire others. Watch the video of The Cinder Cone below.   Tucker Gor...
